What we collect

Nothing. The developer of Period Tracker by Gita does not collect, receive, store or transmit any personal information about you.

Specifically, the app does not:

• ask for a name, email address, phone number or any other identifier
• create an account or require a sign-in
• send your cycle, symptom, mood or note data to us or to anyone else (it syncs only to your own private iCloud, see “iCloud sync” below)
• include advertising, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics software
• read your contacts, photos, microphone, camera or location
• read from or write to Apple Health

Where your data is kept

Your log is stored in a database inside the app's private storage area, which iOS protects from other apps. This includes:

• the days you marked, and the flow level for each
• symptoms, moods and notes you added
• your cycle and period length settings, reminder preferences, app lock setting and language choice

For the Pro widget, the app keeps the three dates it needs to show your next period: when your last period started and ended, and when the next one is expected, along with whether you have Pro and which language the app is set to. They are kept in storage on your iPhone that only the app and its widget can read, and are kept up to date whether or not you have added the widget.

This data is included in an encrypted iPhone or iCloud backup if you make one. Those backups are controlled by Apple and by you, not by us.

iCloud sync

If you are signed in to iCloud, the app keeps a copy of your log in your own private iCloud database, using Apple's CloudKit, so it appears on your other Apple devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Every field of every logged day is encrypted on your device before it is uploaded. That database belongs to your Apple Account: we have no access to it, and it is held by Apple under Apple's iCloud terms. If you are not signed in to iCloud, your log stays on your device only. Only the log syncs: your settings, such as reminders, the app lock and the language, stay on each device.

To stop syncing, turn off iCloud for Period Tracker in the Settings app, under your name → iCloud.

Settings → Delete all data erases your log on this device and in your iCloud, so it also disappears from your other devices. Deleting the app removes only the copy on that device; the copy in your iCloud stays until you use Delete all data or remove the app's data from your iCloud storage in the Settings app.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled locally by iOS and never go through a server. The wording is deliberately vague so a notification on your lock screen does not reveal what the app is for.

iCloud sync uses silent notifications from Apple to learn that another of your devices changed your log. They come from Apple, show nothing on screen, and are used for nothing else.

Face ID and Touch ID

If you turn on the app lock, iOS performs the authentication. The app is told only whether it succeeded. Biometric data never reaches the app and is never stored by it.

Purchases

If you buy Pro, by subscription or one-time purchase, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple, using StoreKit, which is part of iOS. There is no third-party payments or analytics SDK in the app.

Whether you have Pro is read from the signed receipt Apple already keeps on your device. That check happens on the device and needs no server of ours, so it also works offline.

We never see your name, your Apple Account, your card, or your purchase history. Apple processes the payment under its own terms, and nothing about your cycle, symptoms, moods or notes is involved in a purchase in any way.

Export

Exporting your data, or making the summary for a clinician, writes a file to temporary storage and hands it to the iOS share sheet. Where that file goes is entirely your choice. Nothing is uploaded by the app. Settings → Delete all data also removes any of these files still in temporary storage.

Your rights

Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct or delete on your behalf. You have direct and complete control:

• See your data: it is all in the app.
• Export it: Settings → Export my data.
• Delete it: Settings → Delete all data, which also clears your iCloud copy.

A note on legal requests

We cannot hand over what we do not have. Your log is not on a server we control, so there is no database of ours for anyone to subpoena. If you use iCloud sync, a copy is held by Apple in your iCloud account, with every field encrypted on your device first. Bear in mind that an unencrypted device backup, or a phone someone else can unlock, is still readable. Turning on the app lock and using a device passcode is worth doing.

Children

Period Tracker by Gita is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Not medical advice

Period Tracker by Gita is not a medical device. Its predictions are estimates based on your own history and general cycle science. It must not be used as contraception or to diagnose any condition. Talk to a clinician about anything that concerns you.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version appears here with a new date. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
